Lincroft, N.J.- For the fourth straight year, UAlbany's men's and women's cross country squads placed first at the Monmouth Kick-Off Classic on Saturday, Sept. 3.
Sophomores Kathyrn Fanning and Paul Lagno were able to place first for the Great Danes at Thompson Park. Lagno set the course record with a time of 18:11.7 over 6,000 meters, which was previously held by teammate Alex Leuchanka who ran 18:28:1 last year.
After Lagno finished first for UAlbany, Ethan Clary was second with a time of 18:19:4 followed by Chris Burke (18:40.7) and Alex Leuchanka (18:43.2) to round out the top four.
In the women's 4,000-meter race, UAlbany's Kathryn Fanning was first across the finish line with a time of 14:21.8. Emily Finnegan (14:39.9), Melissa Del Rosario (14:47.3), Ada Lauterbach (14:50.0) and Brianne Bellon (14:57.1) rounded out third through sixth place.
The Great Danes will continue the 2011 season when they head to the Iona Meet of Champions on Sept. 17.
