Football's Andrew Smith Chosen Northeast Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Week - UAlbany Sports 2011

Somerset, N.J. - University at Albany's Andrew Smith has been named the Northeast Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Week in football, as announced on Monday, Sept. 26 by the conference office.

Smith, a junior from Schenectady, N.Y. accounted for a career-best three touchdowns and rushed for a career-high 155 yards in last Saturday's 44-21 non-league win over Ivy League opponent Columbia. The 6-foot-2, 215-pound tailback scored his first touchdown, a 41-yard scamper out of a wildcat formation, in the first quarter. In a 20-point, third-quarter blitz, Smith turned a pair of Columbia turnovers into scores. He darted over the right side on a 4-yard run and followed with a 10-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Ryan Kirchner for a 37-14 lead.

Smith, who recorded his second 100-yard rushing game as a collegian, became the 22nd player in program history to surpass the 2,000 career all-purpose yards (2,086). He also moved into a tie for 19th on the all-time scoring list with 108 points.
