No. 4 UConn Outlasts No. 16 UAlbany, 1-0, in Non-Conference Field Hockey

Storrs, Conn. - A goal in the 61st minute of play would give No. 4 Connecticut the go-ahead, 1-0, over No. 16 University at Albany as the Great Danes suffer their second loss on the season.

For the Huskies, Marie Elena Bolles recieved a pass from Ali Blankmeyer late in the second stanza to put away the games lone goal. Bolles had two shots on goal in the game.

The Great Danes took eight shots in the match, but none would hit the mark. Corrine McConville had a team-high with four. UAlbany had a 7-2 penalty corner advantage over UConn.

"Our team played very well against a top opponent in the nation today," said UAlbany Head Coach Phil Sykes. "We were playing good enough to win, but couldn't capitialize on key opportunities. At this time in the season I'm excited about the direction we are heading and our style of play."

Between the pipes, UAlbany's Kristi Troch made three saves in the loss, playing all 70 minutes. Huskie goalkeeper, Sarah Mansfield recorded her first shutout of the season in today's game.

UAlbany will return home tomorrow at Alumni Turf Field for a 2:00 p.m. match with Yale University.
