UAlbany Men's Soccer's Pomare Te Anau Selected as America East Conference Rookie of the Week

Cambridge, Mass.- UAlbany's men's soccer Pomare Te Anau has been selected as America East's Rookie of the Week, which was announced on Tuesday, Sept. 6 by the conference office.

Te Anau, who has been implemented into the starting lineup after teammate Dan Christiansen received a red card in the season opener, has tallied a goal and an assist in two games. In the Great Danes match at Hofstra, Te Anau placed a corner kick where only his teammate Thomas Manz could head in the game-tying goal in regulation on Monday, Aug. 29. Then in UAlbany's match at New Jersey Tech on Thursday, Sept. 1, the freshman from New Zealand received a pass from Christiansen in front of the net to score his first collegiate goal in the 84th minute to solidify a 4-1 victory.

The Great Danes continue their 2011 season when they host the University at Buffalo on Sunday, Sept. 11 at 2:30 pm.
