UAlbany Women's Cross Country Place First, Men Finish Second For Second Straight Meet

UALBANY WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY PLACE FIRST, MEN FINISH SECOND FOR SECOND STRAIGHT MEET

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Ricardo Estremera placed first and Laura Cummings finished second to lead the UAlbany men’s and women’s cross country teams at the Seawolves Cross Country Invitational on Friday afternoon in Stony Brook, N.Y. The women’s team placed first for the second straight week out of four squads, while the men’s team finished second out of five for the second time this season.
Cummings led the UAlbany runners as five Great Danes placed in the top-11, to score a meet-best team total of 33 points. Cummings covered the 4300 meter course in a time of 16:07.78 to place second after Stony Brook’s Laura Huet’s time of 15:50.94. Jessica Chichester finished fifth in 16:57.30, Kristine Mun came in seventh in 17:24.23, Allison Hazlett followed in eighth with a time of 17:29.38, and Laine Sefick finished the meet 11th in a time of 17:48.99 to round out the top-5 finishers for UAlbany.
Estremera finished the 5500 meter course in 17:22.67 to lead a trio of Great Dane runners in the top-11 finishers of the meet. The Great Danes finished second with 56 total team points. Brian Yurkewecz placed fourth in 17:49.03, while David Rothman came in 11th at 18:50.47. Jon Hilbert helped the UAlbany cause by placing 21st in 19:15.46 to gain 19 team points and John Moore came in 24th at 19:35.66 to earn 21 points and round out the top-5 finishers for the Great Danes. New Hampshire won the men’s race with 38 points as six Wildcats placed in the top 13.
