UAlbany Linebacker Colin Disch Named to Buck Buchanan Award Watch List

Philadelphia, Pa. -- University at Albany’s Colin Disch, an All-America linebacker, has been selected to the Buck Buchanan Award watch list. The Buck Buchanan Award is presented to the most outstanding defensive player in the Football Championship Subdivision (Division I FCS).

Disch was previously named to Street & Smith’s preseason FCS All-America first team, and was a second-team selection by The Sports Network and College Sporting News. A two-time Northeast Conference defensive player of the year, Disch racked up 100 or more tackles for the third consecutive season in 2006. He was chosen to the American Football Coaches Association All-America first team and was Football Gazette’s FCS Mid-Major Linebacker of the Year.

Disch, a first-team All-NEC choice on three occasions, is one of seven linebackers on the 16-player list. Buck Buchanan, an All-America defensive lineman from Grambling State University who passed away in 1992, is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He led the Kansas City Chiefs to the Super Bowl IV title. Previous Buchanan Award winners include Appalachian State’s Dexter Coakley, who played for both Dallas and St. Louis from 1997-2006.
