Cowdrey Leads Volleyball to Ninth Straight Win as Great Danes Defeat Hartford, 3-0

Albany, N.Y. – Freshman outside hitter Amanda Cowdrey recorded her ninth double-double of the season to lead UAlbany to a 3-0 win over Hartford in America East Conference volleyball action on Friday evening. The Great Danes swept the Hawks by scores of 30-27, 30-20 and 30-22.

Cowdrey recorded a match-high 16 kills and 14 digs to pace the Great Danes to their ninth straight win. Cowdrey, the reigning America East rookie of the week, also tallied three total blocks and one service ace while finishing with a .353 hitting percentage. Senior middle blocker Ashley Crenshaw added 13 kills, hitting .522 for the match, while freshman outside hitter Teresa Coppiellie finished with 13 digs. Freshman setter Brooke Stanley also tallied a double-double of the assist-dig variety, recording 45 assists and 11 digs.

Jennifer Monroy finished with a double-double of her own for Hartford, tallying 11 kills and 10 digs. Erin Macro also finished with 11 kills for the Hawks, while Hallie Fullagar recorded a match-high 16 digs for Hartford (7-11, AE 0-1)

UAlbany (11-5, AE 1-0) will continue America East play, hosting Stony Brook on Saturday evening at 7 p.m. in University Gymnasium.
