Hamilton, N.Y. – Sophomore midfielder Colleen Bubnack had five goals and scored eight seconds into overtime to lead Colgate to an 11-10 non-league victory over UAlbany on Tuesday, March 10 at Tyler’s Field. The Great Danes played in game that went to extra periods for the first time in nearly six years.

UAlbany (1-4) took a 9-7 lead midway through the second half on consecutive goals by Kayla Best. The junior midfielder found the net in a free-position situation and followed with an unassisted goal, her 14th of the season. Best extended her goal-scoring streak to 35 consecutive games, the fourth-longest among active Division I players.

Colgate (4-2) rallied with a pair of goals 48 seconds apart. Bubnack, who scored four times after the intermission, connected on a free-position shot, before freshman Kailey Krause drew her team even at nine apiece. UAlbany’s Taylor Frink put her team back on top by netting her fourth goal of the game. Frink’s career-best effort gave her squad the lead with 3:04 to play.

However, the Raiders, who were coming off a 12-goal win over league opponent American in their last outing, got the equalizer with 1:55 to play in regulation. Bubnack finished off Brie Moran’s feed to force an extra period. All of which set up Bubnack’s overtime heroics.

UAlbany goalkeeper Katie Neer made 17 saves, one off her career-best performance. Mel Rorie scored twice for the Great Danes, who dropped their second straight one-goal decision. Colgate’s Moran finished two goals and one assist. The Raiders have won six of eight meetings in this regional series.
