University of Albany's Homecoming and Family Weekend Scheduled for Oct. 24-26

Albany, N.Y. -- University of Albany will celebrate its Homecoming and Family Weekend on Oct. 24-26. The festivities begin with the 25th Annual Hall of Fame Dinner and Induction Ceremony on Friday evening. Tom Alexander ’98, men’s lacrosse; Andre Duncan ’98, men’s basketball; Afrim Nezaj ’82, men’s soccer; Kelly Paolino Cirilla ’99. women’s basketball; and Liz Peck ’97, women’s field hockey, will be enshrined into the UAlbany Athletic Hall of Fame.

Saturday’s athletic schedule includes the homecoming football game with Northeast Conference opponent Saint Francis, Pa. at 4:00 p.m. The Great Danes are currently tied for first in the NEC standings. The contest will be televised by Time Warner Cable (TW3) in the Capital Region. The first 500 fans will receive a free sports cup, courtesy of SEFCU. In addition, SEFCU will sponsor a fireworks display following the game.

The men’s basketball program will conduct its annual Purple & Gold scrimmage on Saturday at 2:00 p.m., which will be preceded by an alumni game at SEFCU Arena. UAlbany’s field hockey squad takes on Boston University at 1:00 p.m., with first place in the America East Conference standings on the line. Men’s soccer, presently in second place in the conference, has a non-league game with Bryant at 1:00 p.m. Women’s lacrosse is holding its alumni game on Saturday morning at John Fallon Field.

The weekend slate wraps up on Sunday when women’s volleyball meets conference-rival UMBC at 2:00 p.m. The Great Danes stand alone atop the America East standings. Women’s soccer ends its regular season against UMBC, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
