UAlbany Volleyball Pounds Stony Brook In America East Conference Action. More to come....
Sophomore outside hitter Amanda Cowdrey recorded a double-double with 16 kills and ten digs to lead UAlbany to a 3-1 win over Stony Brook in America East Conference volleyball action on Friday evening. The Great Danes defeated the Seawolves with scores of 25-17, 25-22, 25-27 and 25-21.
Cowdrey’s double-double was her seventh of the season, as she continues to lead the team. She is also in the midst of an 11-match streak in which she has reached double-figure kill totals. Senior middle blocker Hillary White also reached double-figure kills with 14, hitting .444 to go along with three digs and two block assists. Senior middle blocker Kamisha Kellam finished with 11 kills, hitting .348 for the match, and added four total blocks. Sophomore setter Brooke Stanley had a double-double of her own with a match-high 48 assists and 13 digs, added three block assists and one service ace.
Stony Brook (9-11, AE 0-2) was led by Gulce Dikecligil, who recorded a match-high 20 kills to go along with 13 digs, three service aces and two block assists. Alicia Nelson was the only other player to record double-digit kills for the Seawolves, finishing with 13, wile Michelle Burrola led the team defensively with 21 digs.
UAlbany (10-8, AE 3-0) will continue America East play on Saturday, visiting Hartford for a 6 p.m. match.
