Piscataway, N.J. – Sophomore Corrin Conroy shot the lowest-ever single round score of 75 to lead the UAlbany golf team to a second-place team standing after the first day of the Rutgers Invitational at the Rutgers University Golf Course on Friday. The Great Danes shot an 18-hole score of 318 on the first day of competition to finish one shot off the lead, held by Lehigh with a score of 317.
Conroy, who recorded four birdies for the day, finished at three-over on the par-72 course, shooting 38 on the front nine and 37 on the back to tie for second in the individual standings. Freshman Annemarie Kissane, who shot a first round total of 76, recorded one of four birdies in the field on the day, finishing fourth overall. Fellow freshman Stephanie Klein placed 17th in the individual standings, shot a first-round total of 80. Juniors Jessica Signorelli and Amanda McPhee finished with 18-hole scores of 87 and 92, respectively.
Lehigh’s Livia Amado led the individual scoring with a first-round total of 74.
UAlbany’s team score of 318 was ten shots better than the previous one-round record total of 328, shot at the Rutgers Invitational on Oct. 18, 2003.
The Great Danes will continue play on Saturday, beginning at 9 a.m.
