West Hartford, Conn. – Senior middle blocker Hillary White recorded ten kills to lead UAlbany to a 3-0 sweep of Hartford in America East Conference volleyball action at the Reich Family Pavilion on Saturday, Oct. 11. The Great Danes were victorious with scores of 25-21, 25-15 and 25-19.
White hit .421 for the match, also recording four digs and one solo block. Sophomore outside hitter Amanda Cowdrey added eight kills for the Great Danes, adding six digs. Freshman libero Laurie and junior outside hitter Cate Eckhardt led the team defensively with 11 digs. UAlbany, who finished with eight total blocks, received half of those rejections from freshman Casey Wright, who hit .444 with four kills for the Great Danes.
Hartford (5-16, AE 0-3) was led by Erin Macro, who recorded a match-high 12 kills and added two total blocks. Hallie Fullagar added nine kills for the Hawks, while Maddison Molyneux led the team defensively with ten digs. Setter Lindsay Ford had 29 assists in the mach, along with six digs and the team’s lone service ace.
UAlbany (11-8, AE 4-0) will return to action on Wednesday as the host crosstown-rival Siena at 7 p.m. at University Gymnasium. The match, which will be televised by Time Warner Cable (TW3), will be a fundraising event for the Side-Out Foundation’s “Dig Pink” National Breast Cancer Awareness rally.
UAlbany (11-8, AE 4-0) def. Hartford (5-16, AE 0-3), 3-0 (25-21, 25-15, 25-19).
