Cambridge, Mass. - Corrine McConville was named America East Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
McConville, 2010 America East Rookie of the Year, scored the game-winning goal in Saturday's 3-2 victory over No. 10 New Hampshire. The game-winner came off a penalty stroke opportunity to which McConville took advantage of as she lifted the ball to the top left corner of the cage, giving the Great Danes a 3-2 lead with eight minutes left in regulation. She improves to 4-for-5 on penalty stroke attempts on the season.
With the goal, McConville increases her season point total to 28 for second-best on the squad; contributing 12 goals and four assists going into the America East tournament weekend. McConville now holds a top-10 program record for single-season points. At the top of the league in shot total for the past month, McConville averages four shots per-game this season having tallied 76 in 19 regular-season games.
McConville and the Great Danes, despite the season finale win over UNH, will enter this week's America East tournament as the fourth seed and will face the Wildcats in a 1:00 p.m. semifinal game Friday, November 4th in Durham, N.H. The second semifinal game will feature Boston U. and Maine.
