Cambridge, Mass. - Casey Wright was named the America East Conference Volleyball Player of the Week after leading UAlbany to a 1-1 week in league play, as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon. It is Wright's first weekly honor of the season.
The senior middle blocker averaged 5.00 kills and 1.50 blocks per set, while posting a .509 hitting percentage in matches against Hartford and New Hampshire. Wright, a native of Ballston Spa, N.Y., recorded 14 kills without an error in 23 attempts for a .609 hitting percentage in a three-set sweep of Hartford on Friday. She also finished with six total blocks, including three solo, against the Hawks. Wright followed that up with a 16-kill performance at New Hampshire, hitting .438 for the match, adding three blocks and three digs.
