Albany, N.Y. - Freshman Chloe Pachuilo scored her first collegiate goal in the second minute of the game off her own rebound shot. University at Albany scored two more goals in the second half for the 3-0 America East Conference win over University of Vermont on Friday afternoon.
UAlbany (11-5, 2-1 AE), in its third of four home game stretch, completed its third straight shutout and allowed only one shot by Vermont (6-8, 0-3 AE). In the second half, Daphne Voormolen tallied her seventh on the year with a long shot just inside the arch to put the ball past Catamount goalkeeper Stephanie Zigmunt. Chantae Miller added an insurance goal in the 62nd minute, making it 3-0, with a short pass from Katharina Helling.
In the backfield, Zigmunt made 14 saves to bring her season total to 138, which is leads all America East goalkeepers. For UAlbany, Kristi Troch saved the one Vermont shot on goal and completed her fourth shutout of the season, again leading the league.
The Great Danes controlled both shots and penalty corners with a 31-4 and 14-3 edge, respectively.
On Sunday, October 16 the Great Danes will host Delaware at 1:30 p.m to complete a four-game home stand. UAlbany will be hosting the 2nd Annual "Stick it to Cancer" fundraiser and clinic, with all proceeds split between the Luke Romano Fund and National Foundation for Cancer Research.
