University of Albany Field Hockey Moves Up to 15th in NFHCA Poll - UAlbany Sports 2011



Albany, N.Y. - University at Albany field hockey climbed to No. 15 in the Kookaburra/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I Coaches Poll, the program's eighth consecutive week in the rankings. The weekly poll was announced Tuesday, October 18 by the organization.
After sweeping both America East Conference opponent Vermont and Delaware to record their third and fourth consecutive shutout, the Great Danes moved up one position switching spots with Boston U. (16th). Also on the move were other conference foes; Maine bumped up to 13th and New Hampshire dropped two spots to 10th.

UAlbany (12-5) has two regular-season games remaining, both featuring conference opponents. The Great Danes will travel to Boston U. Saturday, October 23rd at 3:00 p.m. and host New Hampshire on Saturday, October 29th at 1:00 p.m.

Paw Prints: After defeating Delaware 4-0 on this past Sunday, the Great Danes hosted their second annual "Stick it to Cancer" fundraiser and clinic. The team hosted 85 athletes from the Shenendehowa School District to work on field hockey skills and training. UAlbany raised $300 from donations for the National Foundation of Cancer Research and $425 for the Luke Romano Fund.
