University of Albany's Meagan Butsch Named ECAC Softball Player of the Week

Centerville, Mass. – UAlbany’s Meagan Butsch was named the ECAC Conference Softball Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.

Butsch, a native of Tomball, Texas, recorded a .500 average to lead UAlbany to a 6-1 week, including six straight wins. The junior third baseman scored eight runs on 11 hits, including three home runs, three doubles and one triple for a 1.136 slugging percentage. Butsch also drove in seven runs while striking out just once in 22 at bats. She went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in a 9-4 win at UMBC on Monday, and went 2-for-3 with one run scored in a close 3-2 victory over Vermont on Wednesday.

Butsch is second on the team with a .356 average on the season. She leads the team with 13 extra-base hits, including four home runs, and has 18 runs and 18 RBI.
