Albany, N.Y. – With a 6-2 win over Hartford on April 19, University at Albany head softball coach Chris Cannata recorded her 400th career victory. In her 14th season at the helm of the Great Danes, Cannata has posted a 400-201-1 record, and has recorded more than half of her wins at the Division I level.
In the program’s eight seasons since moving to Division I, Cannata has led UAlbany to a 249-130-1 record, and has averaged over 32 wins per season. The Great Danes registered a program-record 36 wins in 2006, making their second straight NCAA Tournament appearance that season after claiming the America East Conference Championship. Last season, Cannata took the fourth-seeded Great Danes to their third consecutive championship title and guided the team to the NCAA Hempstead Regional final before falling to nationally-ranked Baylor.
UAlbany (23-13, AE 11-3) is currently second in the America East Conference standings. The Great Danes will continue conference play on Wednesday with a doubleheader at Vermont starting at 2 p.m.
