UAlbany Shuttle Hurdle Relay Team Finishes Third at Florida Relays

Gainesville, Fla. – The quartet of Jean Juste, Nick Assini, Garrett Askew and Daniel Avery finished third in the 110-meter shuttle hurdle relay to lead the UAlbany track and field team on the second day of competition at the Florida Relays on Saturday, April 5 at Percy Beard Track Facility.

The relay team combined for a time of 58.98 seconds, which marked the top time turned in by a collegiate team. It also marks the top time in the event in the program’s Division I history. The 4x800-meter relay team of Jared Jupin, Joe Belokopitsky, Andrew Overbaugh and Tyler Fogarty finished fifth in a time of 7:47.52. The Great Danes’ 4x100-meter relay team, consisting of Raphael Jean-Baptiste, Drew Harrison, Torshiro Jenkins and Dieuseul Joseph recorded an IC4A-qualifying time of 42.26 seconds.

In women’s competition, the Great Danes received a pair of ECAC-qualifying marks in the triple jump. Arina Gerasimova finished fifth with a leap of 40-feet, 6.25-inches, while Jenn Gurrant placed seventh at 39-feet, 7-inches.

The Great Danes return to action on Saturday, April 12 in Amherst, Mass. for a six-way meet with Boston College, Fairfield, Hartford, Central Connecticut State and Massachusetts.
