West Hartford, Conn. – Charlotte Tatler and Kim Weltman recorded straight set, 6-0, 6-0 victories in singles action and combined for a win at No. 3 doubles to lead UAlbany to a 7-0 win over Hartford in America East Conference action on Tuesday afternoon at the Hartford Tennis Courts.
Tatler defeated Jess Ruggles at No. 4 singles while Weltman recorded her straight-set win over Nikki Haynal at the third singles position. The pair posted an 8-0 victory over Gulay Ozdemir and partner Michele Tafur. Aimee Kern and Susan Ma combined for an 8-0 sweep of Raquel Casino and Kasey Michels at the top doubles spot. Kern recorded a 6-3, 6-1 defeat of Casino at No. 1 singles while Ma posted a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Michels at the second singles position.
Laine Mackey also recorded a singles victory for UAlbany, defeating Tafur, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 5 singles. Amanda Hall swept Ozdemir, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles and teamed with Mackey to defeat Haynal and Ruggles, 8-0, at No. 2 doubles.
UAlbany will return to action on Friday, as they travel to New Haven, Conn. for the America East Conference Championship at the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center on the campus of Yale University.
