Loudonville, N.Y. – UAlbany’s Kim Weltman and Charlotte Tatler combined for a 8-0 win in doubles action, and they both posted straight-set singles wins to lead the Great Danes to a 6-1 win over crosstown-rival Siena in non-conference tennis action on Wednesday afternoon.
Weltman defeated Siena’s Jessica Asselin, 6-3, 6-0 at the No. 3 singles position, while Tatler recorded a 6-0, 6-0 defeat of Lauren Garbade at the fourth singles position. Freshman Susan Ma posted a 6-7 (7-4), 6-3, 10-4 win over Sarah Davis and also teamed up with Aimee Kern for an 8-4 victory over Sarah Davis and Asselin at the top doubles spot. Amanda Hall was also victorious in singles action, defeating Jennifer Messing, 6-0, 6-1. Hall and teammate Laine Mackey defeated Sarah Mayer and Garbade, 9-8 (7-1), at No. 3 doubles. Mackey claimed a 5-0 default win over Keric in singles action. Siena’s lone point came in a 6-2, 6-1 win at the No. 1 singles position by Mayer over Kern.
UAlbany will return to action on Saturday, hosting America East Conference opponent Binghamton at 1 p.m.
