Cambridge, Mass. – University at Albany’s Daniel Avery and Luke Schoen have been named America East Conference men’s outdoor track and field performers of the week, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday afternoon.
Avery, a freshman from Cooper City, Fla., has been selected as the track performer of the week. Avery, who is also a defensive back on the UAlbany football team, won the 110-meter hurdles in an IC4A-qualifying time of 14.31 seconds at North Carolina State’s Raleigh Relays on Saturday, March 29 at Paul Derr Track Stadium. He advanced to the event’s finals by sprinting 14.50 seconds in the preliminaries.
Schoen, a sophomore from Bohemia, N.Y., has been chosen as the field performer of the week. Schoen placed second in the pole vault with an IC4A-qualifying height of 15-feet, 11-inches in last Friday’s competition at the Raleigh Relays.
The Great Danes are in competition at a pair of meets on April 4-5, at the Florida Relays in Gainesville, Fla. and the Duke Invitational in Durham, N.C.
