Durham, N.C. – University at Albany’s Laura Cummings finished third in the women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase on the second day of competition at the 2008 Duke Asics Invitational on Saturday, April 5 at Wallace Wade Stadium. Cummings qualified for both the NCAA East Regionals and ECAC meet with a season-best time of 10:40.49.
Coastal Carolina’s Felicitas Mensing was first across the line in 10:32.72, while runner-up Kara McKenna, an unattached competitor, was clocked in 10:37.79. UAlbany’s Danielle Trimpop placed 10th in the same race with a time of 11:18.37.
In the men’s meet, Luke Schoen tied for third in the pole vault as he cleared the bar at 15-feet, 9-inches. Michael Dempsey and David Parker placed ninth and 10th, respectively, with marks of 15-3. Parker was sixth in Friday’s high jump event. Kyle Nadler took sixth place in the long jump with a leap of 21-9.
