Cambridge, Mass. -- University at Albany’s Brian Caufield has been chosen America East Conference Rookie of the Week in men’s lacrosse, as announced on Tuesday, April 22 the league office. Caufield was honored for the second time this season.
Caufield, a freshman attackman from Bay Shore, N.Y., tallied eight goals in two games last week. He scored five times, his second-highest output of the season, in last Sunday’s 13-3 conference victory over Vermont and added three more in a 10-5 loss to top-ranked Syracuse on April 18. Caufield has accounted for three or more points in five of his last six starts.
Caufield is 22nd among the NCAA Division I leaders in scoring at 3.30 points per game. He is also second on the team with 33 points (22 goals, 11 assists).
UAlbany (6-7, AE 3-1) will host Stony Brook in the regular-season finale on Saturday, April 26 at 7:00 p.m. The game will be televised in the Capital Region on Time Warner Cable (TW3). Saturday’s winner will earn the second seed for the upcoming America East postseason tournament.
