Albany, N.Y. – Junior Charlotte Tatler won her singles match in straight sets and picked up a win at third doubles to lead UAlbany to a 4-3 non-conference women’s tennis win over Hofstra on Saturday, March 15 at the Bubble.
Tatler took both sets with Stacey Kent by scores of 6-2 and 6-2 at No. 4 singles for her sixth consecutive singles win. Tatler teamed with junior Kim Weltman at No. 3 doubles for an 8-2 pro-set triumph over Stacey Kent and Morganne Dowling. Weltman recorded her fifth straight singles win with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 victory over Zoe Taylor at the third slot.
Freshman Laine Mackey picked up the Great Danes’ third singles win at the No. 5 position, defeating Valerie McDonald, 6-0, 6-1. The duo of Mackey and Amanda Hall won for their fifth straight match by topping McDonald and Samantha Sharifi, 8-0. Hall fell to Downing at sixth singles, 3-6, 6-4, 11-9.
Hofstra picked up singles wins at the first and second positions. At No. 1 singles, Christie Gattelaro beat Aimee Kern, 6-2, 6-3, while Lauren Clifton defeated Susan Ma at second singles. Kern and Ma combined to beat Gattelaro and Clifton, 8-7 (11-9), at first doubles.
