Cambridge, Mass. - University at Albany's Sandy Antenor has been selected America East Conference Field Performer of the Week in women's indoor track and field, as announced on Tuesday, Feb. 15 by the conference office. Antenor, a senior from Suffern, N.Y., won the triple jump at the New York Road Runners Saturday Night at the Armory III.
Antenor recorded a first-place effort of 40-feet, 5.5-inches, the fourth-best leap in school history. Her ECAC-qualifying mark is the best in the conference this season and is fourth in the Northeast Region rankings. Antenor, who won the competition by 5.5 inches, also went 40-plus feet in a winning performance at Penn State's Nittany Lion Challenge on Jan. 15.
Paw Prints: UAlbany is No. 12 in this week's USTFCCA Northeast Region women's rankings ... the Great Danes finished fifth as a team at the NYRR Saturday Night meet ... Christen Griffin is sixth in the Northeast Region after sprinting to a first-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.60 seconds ... Brianne Bellon and Kathryn Fanning turned in season-best performances in the 800- and 1,000-meter runs, respectively ... the Great Danes, who placed third in the NYRR team standings, are No. 13 in the USTFCCA men's regional rankings ... Tristan Akong is fourth in the region in the 60-meter dash, as he won the NYRR meet in 6.81 seconds ... Nick Santos and Chris Burke each qualified for the IC4A championship in the 800-meter run ... Wilfredo de Jesus Elias has the top weight throw mark in the Northeast Region at 65-feet, 6 inches ... UAlbany will attempt to win its sixth consecutive men's title and second straight women's crown at the America East Conference Championships on Feb. 18-19 at Boston University's Track and Tennis Center.
