Men's Lacrosse Voted Second in America East Preseason Poll; Great Danes Open on Feb. 26


Cambridge, Mass. - After reaching the America East Conference championship game last year, UAlbany has been chosen to finish second in the conference preseason poll, as announced on Tuesday, Feb. 8 by the league office. The poll was voted by the conference's head coaches. Stony Brook has been selected to defend their America East title with five first-place votes and 25 points. The Great Danes earned 20 points.

UAlbany opens its 2011 schedule against Drexel in Philadelphia, Pa. on Saturday, Feb. 26. The Great Danes meet six opponents who are ranked in the preseason USILA national poll, including No. 2 Syracuse.

Head coach Scott Marr, who enters his 11th season, has 24 letterwinners back from last year's squad. Brian Caufield, a two-time All-America East first-team selection, and all-conference attacker Joe Resetarits return after each player's season was shortened due to injury one year ago. Caufield has 131 career points and is fifth on the program's career assists list (70). Goalkeeper John Carroll posted a .514 save percentage with an 11.33 goals against average.
