UAlbany & Boston U. Meet in Big Apple Battle; Part of Madison Square Garden Doubleheader

New York, N.Y. - UAlbany and Boston University will play in the Big Apple Battle at Madison Square Garden in the second half of a college doubleheader on Thursday, Feb. 10. Tip-off is scheduled for 9:35 p.m. Fans can listen to the game on Fox Sports Radio AM 980 (WOFX). A Big East Conference matchup between St. John's and Connecticut will begin the evening.

For the first time, the Great Danes will play in the "World's Most Famous Arena." The Garden will host its first-ever America East men's basketball conference game. Boston U. is making its fourth MSG appearance, including the 1959 NCAA Tournament.

Boston U. (12-13, AE 7-4) is coming off a pair of wins over Maine and Stony Brook and has moved into third place in the conference standings. John Holland, a two-time first-team All-America East selection, leads the league in scoring at 18.8 points per game. He recently became the second BU player to topple the 2,000-point mark and has 2,028 career points. Darryl Partin, a 6-foot-6 transfer from La Salle, is ninth among the America East scoring leaders with a 13.9 average. The Terriers rallied from a double-figure halftime deficit to win this year's first meeting with the Great Danes, a 70-67 decision at SEFCU Arena on Jan. 15.

UAlbany (12-14, AE 5-6) has worked its way up to fourth place in the America East standings by winning four of its last six outings in league play. Tim Ambrose had 20 points in last Saturday's 62-59 Big Purple Growl victory over Hartford. Ambrose (16.5 ppg) climbed to fifth on the all-time scoring list with 1,481 points. Logan Aronhalt (14.8 ppg) and Mike Black (12.0 ppg) also score in twin figures. Aronhalt has struck for 20-plus points on six occasions this season. Freshman Luke Devlin, who contributes 6.8 points and 6.3 rebounds, has received the conference's rookie of the week award four times this season.
