University of Albany's Sandy Antenor & Christen Griffin Win at NYRR Collegiate Meet at the Armory - UAlbany Sports 2011


New York, N.Y. - In the women's competition, Sandy Antenor won the triple jump with a mark of 40-5.50, the fourth-best leap in program history. She and teammate Ashley Mahlmeister qualified for the ECAC championships. Mahlmeister jumped 39-feet, 7-inches to tie for fourth place. UAlbany went one-two in the 60-meter hurdles. Christen Griffin edged Yushanni Durrant to garner first place. Griffin sprinted 8.60 seconds to register the fourth-best time in program annals.

A pair of freshman turned in season-best performances. Brianne Bellon ran 2:12.34 in the 800-meter run to hit the tape in third place, while Kathryn Fanning crossed the finish line in 2:53.78 to place third at 1,000-meters. Elia Francis posted a second-place effort in the 500-meter dash with a time of 1:16.23.

UAlbany attempts to win its sixth consecutive men's indoor title at the America East Championships on Feb. 18-19 at Boston University's Track and Tennis Center. The Great Danes will look to defend their women's championship.
