#16 UAlbany Field Hockey upends Fairfield 3-0 as Lindsey Records Goal and Assist

Albany, N.Y. – Sophomore defender Jess Lindsey recorded a goal and an assist to lead No. 16 UAlbany to a 3-0 win in America East field hockey action at Alumni Turf Field on Sunday, Oct. 7.

Lindsey tallied the first goal of the game just over two and a half minutes into the contest as she redirected a shot by junior Michele Polizois off a penalty corner.

The Great Danes scored their second goal of the game in the 27th minute off another penalty corner. Freshman Sam Daly registered the goal off assists from Lindsey and freshman Anouk Vandenberg.

UAlbany scored its third goal off a scramble in front of the cage by freshman Chelsea Neff at the 59:03 mark.

The Great Danes outshot the Stags 19-2, including a 13-0 margin in the second half, and had an 18-1 advantage in penalty corners. UAlbany junior goalkeeper Ashley Ross made one save in the first half before giving way to freshman Christine Hoffman, who did not need to make a save in her 35 minutes of action. Elizabeth Thomas made seven saves in goal for Fairfield (2-11, AE 0-3).

UAlbany (11-3, AE 3-0) returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 13 at Cornell at 7:30 p.m.
