Albany, N.Y. – Sophomore outside hitter Kate Eckhardt recorded a career-high 13 kills and completed her first career double-double with 13 digs to lead the UAlbany volleyball team to a 3-0 sweep of Maine in America East Conference action in University Gymnasium on Sunday afternoon. The Great Danes won with scores of 30-14, 30-19 and 30-19.
Freshman outside hitter Amanda Cowdrey also finished with double-digit kills, tallying 12 to go along with nine digs and five service aces. Sophomore outside hitter Valerie Sourbeer finished with double-digit kills for the third straight match, recording 11 to go with a .455 hitting percentage. Freshman setter Brooke Stanley notched a match-high 43 assists and nine digs.
Maine was led by middle hitter Amy Lawson, who finished with 11 kills. Emily Root led the Black Bears defensively with 15 digs while Lindsay Allman added 12 digs and eight kills. Paige Tortorello recorded 17 assists for Maine (1-15, AE 0-4).
UAlbany (13-6, AE 3-1) hit the road for a five-game stretch, visiting UMBC no Friday, Oct. 12 at 4 p.m.
