Cambridge, Mass. - University at Albany freshman outside hitter Amanda Cowdrey earned her third America East Conference Rookie of the Week award of the season as announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon.
Cowdrey averaged a team-high 3.38 kills per game and was second with 3.38 digs per game in leading the Great Danes to an America East split last week. The rookie recorded her 11th double-double of the season in a 3-2 loss to New Hampshire on Friday, finishing with a team-high 15 kills and 18 digs. Cowdrey, a native of Brampton, Ontario, finished with 12 kills and nine digs in a 3-0 win over Maine, while also finishing with five service aces against the Black Bears. Cowdrey’s average of 0.62 service aces per game last week put her fourth in the conference.
UAlbany (13-6, AE 3-1) will hit the road for its only match of the week on Friday, a 4 p.m. contest at UMBC.
