University of Albany's Teresa Coppiellie & Kaley Jacobson Earn America East Weekly Volleyball Awards


Cambridge, Mass. - University at Albany's Teresa Coppiellie, a senior outside hitter, has been named the America East Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. In addition, freshman setter Kaley Jacobson earned the conference's rookie of the week award for the second time this season.

Coppiellie was named to the all-tournament team at the Middle Tennessee Invitational after leading the Great Danes to wins over UAB and Arkansas. For the weekend, she averaged 3.09 kills and 3.00 digs per set, while also totaling four service aces, seven total blocks, including four solo, and a .313 hitting percentage. Coppiellie started the tournament with a double-double of 17 kills and 17 digs in a win over UAB, along with three blocks and two aces. In the program's first win over a Southeastern Conference team, a 3-0 defeat of Arkansas, Coppiellie hit .440 with 13 kills. She also finished with six digs, four blocks and one ace against the Razorbacks. In the tournament finale against the host Blue Raiders, she totaled nine kills and a team-high seven digs.

Jacobson averaged 10.50 assists and 2.40 digs per set at the tournament, quarterbacking the Great Danes to a .274 team hitting percentage over the three matches. In the first contest against UAB, she recorded a double-double of 48 assists and 14 digs. Jacobson, who was also the conference's rookie of the week after the first week of the season, recorded 30 assists and five digs versus Arkansas, and wrapped up the tournament with 27 assists and five digs against Middle Tennessee.
