Albany, N.Y. - Freshman forward Corrine McConville scored two goals, while Suzy Clephane added two assists to lead #19 UAlbany to a 3-0 win over Bryant in non-conference field hockey action on Friday afternoon at Alumni Turf Field.
McConville scored the first goal of the game in the 18th minute on a penalty corner, taking assists from Clephane and Chelsea Neff. McConville was stationed at the top of the circle for the direct shot on goal, getting the ball past Bryant goalkeeper Jennifer Gullotti. The rookie doubled the Great Danes' score with her fourth goal of the season before halftime on another penalty corner opportunity. Patrick insterted the ball to Clephane, who stopped the pass and allowed McConville to drill a shot into the right corner of the cage.
The Great Danes finished off the scoring in the first two minutes of play in the second half, as Patrick gathered the a loose ball in front of the cage and finished with an unassisted shot into the back of the net. UAlbany outshot the Bulldogs, 27-2, and held a 13-1 advantage in penalty corners. UAlbany goalkeepers Christine Hoffman and Kristi Troch combined for the shutout, while Gullotti made eight saves in the cage for Bryant (0-8).
UAlbany (6-2) will return to action on Sunday, visiting Massachusetts, a team that is receiving votes in the national poll, starting at 2 p.m.
