Gainesville, Fla. - Casey Wright recorded a match-high 13 kills en route to her second all-tournament appearance of the season, leading UAlbany to a 3-0 sweep of Bowling Green in the finale of the Campus USA Credit Union Classic volleyball tournament hosted by Florida on Saturday afternoon. UAlbany swept the match with scores of 25-21, 25-21 and 27-25.
Wright hit .271 for the match while also recording nine total blocks, including two solos, for the Great Danes. Teresa Coppiellie recorded a double-double, as the second UAlbany player with double-digit kills, totaling 11 to go along with 12 digs. Freshman setter Kaley Jacobson notched her second career double-double of the assist-dig variety with 31 assists and 12 digs, while also tallying four block assists. Libero Laurie Gonzalez was the third player for UAlbany with 12 digs to pace the Great Danes defensively. Dunja Prgomet also had a strong all-around match with eight kills, nine digs and two block assists.
Danielle Tonyan and Paige Penrod led Bowling Green with 12 and 11 kills, respectively. Adding 10 digs and two block assists, Penrod was Bowling Green's selection to the all-tournament team. Laura Avila and Ashley Dunn both finished with double-doubles, as Avila totaled 20 assists and 13 digs with Dunn recording 12 assists and a team-high 15 digs. Bowling Green (1-6) was only able to manage three total blocks as a team, as UAlbany held the Falcons to a .162 hitting percentage for the match.
UAlbany (3-3) will return to action next weekend at the Middle Tennessee Invitational, where the Great Danes will take on UAB, Arkansas and the host Blue Raiders.
