#19 UAlbany Field Hockey Falls to Michigan, 4-3, in Double Overtime; Christina Patrick Scores Twice


Ann Arbor, Mich. - Alicia Mayer scored two goals and assisted Katie Adams' gamewinner to lead Michigan to a 4-3 double overtime win over #19 UAlbany in non-conference field hockey action at Ocker Field on Saturday afternoon.

Mayer gave Michigan a 1-0 advantage in the first half before scoring the second goal of the game to start the second half of play. UAlbany came back firing after halftime, tying the game at 2-2 within two minutes of playing time. Freshman Corrine McConville put the Great Danes on the board on a penalty corner, taking assists from Ashlyn Bach and Christina Patrick to find the back of the net at 50:33. Just 1:36 later, Patrick tied the game up, as Nina Walters dribbled down the right side and sent a crossing pass to Patrick, who redirected the ball into the cage.

Rachel Mack put the Wolverines back on top in the 56th minute, taking an assist from Mayer. In the final minute of play, Patrick scored her second goal of the game to tie the score at 3-3. Patrick collected a rebound in front of the cage and slipped the ball past Michigan goalkeeper Haley Jones to send the game to overtime.

The teams played a scoreless first extra period to send the game into another 10 minutes of action. Mayer sent a long pass across the circle to find Adams, who used a reverse-stick shot to score the game-winning tally in the 93rd minute of play.

Michigan (3-4) outshot UAlbany, 23-13, including 6-0 in the second overtime, and held a 10-8 advantage in penalty corners. UAlbany goalkeepers Christine Hoffman and Kristi Troch combined for five saves, while Jones stopped two shots for the Wolverines.
