Cambridge, Mass. - University at Albany's Teresa Coppiellie has been named the America East Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday, Nov. 8. Coppiellie received the award for the third consecutive and has earned the weekly honor on five occasions this season.
Coppiellie averaged 4.29 kills, 2.00 digs and 0.86 blocks per set to go along with a .360 hitting percentage in two matches over the weekend. The senior outside hitter started off the weekend with 16 kills, eight digs and two blocks in a 3-1 win over New Hampshire. She also recorded one of the Great Danes' nine service aces against the UNH Wildcats. In a sweep of Providence, Coppiellie finished with a match-high 14 kills on .406 hitting, to go along with six digs and four total blocks, including two solo.
UAlbany (18-7, AE 8-2) won two matches on the road over the weekend to remain in first place in the America East Conference standings. The Great Danes defeated New Hampshire, 3-1, on Friday before sweeping Providence in three sets the following day. UAlbany returns home for the final two matches of the regular season, hosting Hartford on Friday and Stony Brook on Sunday in conference play.
