Five University of Albany Great Danes Earn 2010 Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-Region Honors - UAlbany Sports 2010


Albany, N.Y. - Senior defender Suzy Clephane earned her second straight Longstreth/NFHCA Division I First Team All-Northeast Region award, while four other players were named to the second team, as announced by the NFHCA on Thursday. Taylor Luke, Corrine McConville, Christina Patrick and Kristi Troch were all second team honorees.

Clephane makes her second appearance on the all-region second team after anchoring a UAlbany defense that allowed just 1.35 goals per game. Clephane, who is now eligible for NFHCA All-America consideration, finished with one goal and nine assists as a key member of UAlbany's offensive penalty corner unit. She was an America East Conference Second Team member this season after earning the league's top defensive player award as a junior.

McConville was an all-region second team honoree after being named the America East rookie of the year this season. McConville scored eight goals and added two assists for the Great Danes as a freshman. Sophomore Kristi Troch was earned the America East's top goalkeeper honor after ranking first nationally with a 1.07 goals against average and leading UAlbany to a league-best seven shutouts. Junior defender Taylor Luke was a unanimous all-conference first team selection for the second straight season after tallying seven defensive saves. Junior forward Christina Patrick was an all-conference first team honoree, as she finished tied for second in the league standings with 16 goals, including a conference-best six game-winners.

UAlbany (16-6) finished the season ranked 15th in the Kookaburra/NFHCA Division I National Coaches' Poll, claiming its second America East Conference Championship title and NCAA Tournament berth.
