Cambridge, Mass. - University at Albany's Teresa Coppiellie has been named the America East Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. Coppiellie, a senior outside hitter from Canton, Mich, earned her third weekly honor this season.
Coppiellie recorded two straight double-doubles en route to averaging 4.62 kills and 5.00 digs per set in two matches over the weekend. In a loss to Binghamton on Friday, she notched her first double-double of the weekend with 12 kills and 14 digs in a three-set match. In Sunday's five-set win over the Bearcats in Vestal, N.Y., Coppiellie had a career day with 25 kills and 26 digs to go along with four blocks, including three solo, and a .345 hitting percentage.
UAlbany (15-7, AE 5-2) remains tied with Binghamton at the top of the America East standings. The Great Danes will host league-rival UMBC on Sunday, Oct. 31 at 1 p.m. UAlbany is hosting a Dig Pink match that day, supporting the Side-Out Foundation to raise funds for breast cancer awareness and research.
