Stony Brook, N.Y. - Casey Wright recorded a match-high 13 kills on a .500 hitting percentage to lead UAlbany to a 3-0 sweep of league rival Stony Brook in America East Conference volleyball action at Pritchard Gymnasium on Friday evening. The Great Danes won with scores of 25-16, 25-19 and 25-21.
Teresa Coppiellie also recorded double-digit kills for UAlbany, finishing with 11 kills to go along with seven digs and one service ace, while Traci Vandegrift totaled nine kills and nine digs. Setter Abbey Wexel quarterbacked the Great Danes to a .308 hitting percentage, handing out 38 assists and recording eight digs. Libero Laurie Gonzalez led the team defensively with 15 digs.
Alicia Nelson paced Stony Brook (7-13, AE 2-2) with 13 kills, while Ashley Headen added 12 kills for the Seawolves. Corinne Perry and Kelsey Sullivan split the setting duties for Stony Brook, recording 15 and 16, respectively. Hailee Herc and Jeanette Gibbs paced the team on the defensive end, as Herc totaled 14 digs, while Gibbs finished with 15.
UAlbany (14-5, AE 4-0) will return to action on Sunday, visiting America East Conference opponent Hartford at 2 p.m.
