University of Albany Field Hockey Remains Ranked in Kookaburra/NFHCA Division I Coaches' Poll - UAlbany Sports


Albany, N.Y. - The UAlbany field hockey team remains ranked in the Kookaburra/NFHCA Division I National Coaches' Poll, but slipped a spot to 18th despite a 3-0 record last week. UAlbany stands at 10-2 on the season, including a 1-0 mark in America East Conference play.

The Great Danes posted a 9-1 victory over crosstown-rival Siena before shutting out Fairfield, 3-0, and recording a 3-2 win over Providence on the road. UAlbany has continued to dominate the offensive end of the field, outshooting their opponents last week, 68-12, including a 47-5 advantage in shots on goal. UAlbany also held a 32-4 advantage in penalty corners over three opponents last week. Freshman forward Daphne Voormolen scored three goals and added one assist en route to being named the conference's rookie of the week. Senior Alysia Hough and junior Christina Patrick also finished with seven points, on three goals and one assist each.

UAlbany will return to action over Homcoming/Fall Festival Weekend, hosting America East foe Maine on Saturday at 4 p.m. and in-state rival Syracuse on Sunday at 2 p.m.

PAW PRINTS: At UAlbany's game versus Siena on Tuesday, the Great Danes held a "Stick it to Cancer" event to raise money for the National Foundation for Cancer Research. UAlbany held a clinic after the game for 43 7th and 8th grade Shenendehowa School District field hockey players. With their efforts, the Great Danes raised $700, all of which was donated to the National Foundation for Cancer Research.
