Cambridge, Mass. - University at Albany's Ebone Henry has been chosen America East Conference Rookie of the week in women's basketball, as announced on Monday, Feb. 15 by the conference office. Henry is the second UAlbany player to earn the league's weekly rookie award this season.
Henry, a freshman from San Diego, Calif., averaged 24.0 points and 9.0 rebounds in a pair of games last week. She scored a career-high 26 points, including seven in overtime, as the Great Danes snapped a nine-game losing streak with a 59-52 triumph over Stony Brook on Feb. 10. Henry, who added nine rebounds and three steals, established the program's Division I freshman single-game scoring record and produced the highest point total by a UAlbany player this season.
Henry also had 22 points and nine rebounds in a 69-65 loss to Boston University on Feb. 13. She made a career-best five 3-point field goals. The 5-foot-10 swing player leads the Great Danes in scoring at 10.8 points per game and is averaging 5.3 rebounds.
Paw Prints: UAlbany is home against Binghamton on Monday, Feb. 15 at 7:00 p.m. in the annual Pink Zone game to publicize Breast Cancer Awareness ... Charity Iromuanya (9.9 ppg) has moved to eighth on the program's career steals list with 202 ... Iromuanya, a senior guard, will be honored prior to the final home game of the season against Hartford on Wednesday, Feb. 24 ... Julie Forster is on pace to break the freshman single-season rebounding mark ... Forster has 187 rebounds and needs 30 to break Danielle Hutcheson's standard.
