University of Albany's Brooke Stanley Leads Women's Volleyball to a 3-0 Sweep of America East-Rival Hartford - UAlbany Sports 2009


West Hartford, Conn. - Junior setter Brooke Stanley moved into second place on UAlbany's all-time assists list en route to leading the Great Danes to a 3-0 sweep of Hartford in America East Conference volleyball action on Friday evening at the Sports Center. UAlbany won the match with scores of 25-14, 25-15 and 25-12.

Stanley recorded 28 assists in the match, surpassing Lisa Grenier with 3,262 career assists. The reigning America East player of the week, Stanley finished with her seventh double-double of the season, as she also tallied 10 digs to go along with three service aces, two kills and a .667 hitting percentage. Freshman middle blocker Traci Vandegrift led the Great Danes offensively with a career-best 11 kills. Sophomore Casey Wright added eight kills, and matched Stanley's match-best .667 hitting percentage. Libero Laurie Gonzalez also finished with 10 digs for the Great Danes.

Hartford (6-13, AE 0-3) was led by Kami Nethersole with 10 kills and four digs. Erin Macro added six kills, while setter Lindsay Ford finished with 22 assists. UAlbany outblocked the Hawks, 7-0, and held Hartford to a .075 hitting percentage as a team.

UAlbany (11-8, AE 2-0) will return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 14, visiting crosstown-rival Siena at 7 p.m. The Great Danes will return to University Gym after a 13-match hiatus on Friday, Oct. 16, hosting Stony Brook in conference action.
