Syracuse, N.Y. - Maggie Befort scored the only goal needed to lead #6 Syracuse to a 1-0 win over #20 UAlbany in non-conference field hockey action at Coyne Field on Sunday afternoon.
After a scoreless first half, Syracuse broke the 0-0 tie in the 47th minute with a goal from Befort. Lindsey Conrad made a crossing pass which Befort collected and slipped in the cage past UAlbany goalkeeper Kristi Troch.
Syracuse (11-1) outshot UAlbany, 10-3, and held a 10-3 advantage in penalty corners. Christine Hoffman and Kristi Troch split time in the cage for the Great Danes. Hoffman made one save in the first half of play, while Troch made two stops in the second stanza. Goalkeeper Leann Stiver made two saves for the Orange.
UAlbany (8-3) will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 10, visiting Maine for an America East Conference match up at 1:00 p.m.
