Cambridge, Mass. – UAlbany’s Luke Schoen was named the America East Conference Field Athlete of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday, Feb. 10. This marks the second time this season that the junior pole vaulter is being honored with the weekly award.
Schoen, who has reset his own school record in the event twice this winter, met the NCAA provisional qualifying standard for the third time this year at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 7. He cleared 17-feet, 4.5-inches to finish fourth among 17 student-athletes in the championship division.
Schoen will be one of 18 members of the UAlbany men’s and women’s track and field programs who will compete at the Tyson Invitational hosted by the University of Arkansas on Feb. 13-14. The Great Danes will also compete in a tri-meet at Binghamton along with Syracuse on Feb. 13.
