Tatler Leads University of Albany Tennis to a 7-0 Sweep of Providence - UAlbany Sports

Albany, N.Y. – Senior Charlotte Tatler posted a 6-0, 6-0 win over Meg Gilroy at No. 3 singles and also teamed with Holly Smith for an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles to lead UAlbany to a 7-0 defeat of Providence in non-conference tennis action on Friday evening at the UAlbany Bubble.

Smith also posted a sweep in her singles match against Providence’s Jenn Cusack at the fifth position. Sophomore Susan Ma defeated Ashley Rissolo at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-1, while senior Kim Weltman posted a 6-1, 6-1 win against Ayushi Sinha at the second singles spot. Laine Mackey and Aubrey Brooks helped complete the singles sweeps with victories at the No. 4 and No. 6 slots, respectively. Mackey recorded a 6-1, 6-1 win over the Friars’ Mel Albert while Brooks defeated Ally Wegner 6-1, 6-0.

In doubles action, Ma and Mackey defeated Gilroy and Sinha, 8-2, in the No. 1 match. Weltman and Brooks posted an 8-0 sweep over Courtney Fuller and Liz Gillis in the third doubles position.
