University of Albany Places 70 Student-Athletes on America East Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll - UAlbany Sports

Cambridge, Mass. – The University at Albany had 70 student-athletes named to the 2008 America East Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll, as announced by the conference office. Student-athletes had to earn grade point averages of 3.0 or above for the fall semester to receive this recognition, with those earning a 3.5 GPA or better earning Commissioner’s Honor Roll distinction. America East honored 603 fall student-athletes from around the conference in the sports of men’s and women’s soccer, volleyball, field hockey and men’s and women’s cross country.

The UAlbany men’s soccer team featured the highest number of honorees for the Great Danes, with 23 student-athletes earning recognition. The squad also had the largest contingent of student-athletes recognized among the nine men’s soccer programs, which included 12 student-athletes landing on the Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

The women’s soccer program featured 14 student-athlete honorees, the department’s second-highest mark. UAlbany also had 12 student-athletes on the women’s cross country team recognized as well as eight in men’s cross country and seven in the sports of volleyball and field hockey.

In addition, UAlbany had three student-athletes finish the fall semester with a perfect 4.0 GPA. They were Sarah Deane (field hockey), Anthony DeSalvo (men’s soccer) and Ally Panos (women’s cross country).

Vermont had the most honor roll members, with 91 student-athletes earning the award. Maine and New Hampshire had 82 honorees apiece, followed by Binghamton (77) and UAlbany (70). Boston University (57), Stony Brook (56), Hartford (37) and UMBC (36) rounded out the nine member schools, while Fairfield, an associate member in field hockey, had 19 student-athletes named to the Academic Honor Roll.
