University of Albany's Paul Lagno Chosen America East Men's Cross Country Performer of the Week - UAlbany Sports 2010


Cambridge, Mass. - University at Albany's Paul Lagno has been selected America East Conference Performer of the Week in men's cross country, as announced on Tuesday, Oct. 19 by the conference office.

Lagno, a sophomore from Salt Point, N.Y., won last Saturday's 44th annual UAlbany Invitational by running the 8,000-meter campus course in a time of 24:51.7. He was 11 seconds ahead of his nearest competitor. Lagno is the first Great Dane to win the school's invitational since 2001 when Jamie Rodriguez won the individual title. He improved his mark from last year on the same course by more than 30 seconds.

The Great Danes captured the team title at the UAlbany Invitational for the first time in seven years, finishing 66 points ahead of the second-place squad. UAlbany is currently ranked 10th in the USTFCCCA Northeast regional poll. The Great Danes will next compete at the America East Conference Championship on Saturday, Oct. 30 at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass.
