University of Albany's Abbey Wexel Earns America East Conference Volleyball Setter of the Week Honors - UAlbany Sports 2010


Cambridge, Mass. - University at Albany's Abbey Wexel was named the America East Conference Volleyball Setter of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. It is Wexel's first career weekly honor from the conference.

Wexel, who hails from Virginia Beach, Va., quarterbacked UAlbany to a 3-0 sweep of UMBC in the America East opener on Friday, Oct. 1. She finished with a double-double of 33 assists and 12 digs to go along with three kills and a team-high .750 hitting percentage. Wexel led UAlbany to a conference-best .262 team hitting percentage, while the Great Danes held UMBC to .087 hitting as a team.

UAlbany (10-5) will host non-conference opponent Colgate on Wednesday in a game that will be televised locally on Time Warner Cable (TWCS). Over Homecoming/Fall Festival Weekend, the Great Danes will host league foes Providence at 7 p.m. on Friday and New Hampshire at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
