Eugene, Ore. – University at Albany's Alie Beauvais and Joe Greene each advanced to the men’s 400-meter intermediate hurdles semifinals and Mike McCadney eclipsed his own school record in the men’s triple jump at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on June 25 and 26 at the University of Oregon’s Hayward Field.

Battling winds which were gusting up to 21 miles per hour, particularly on the back straightaway, Greene and Beauvais finished ninth and 16th, respectively, in the 400 hurdles on Friday night to advance to Saturday’s semifinals. Only one competitor, Justin Gaymon of Georgia, was able to finish in less than 50 seconds due to the weather conditions.

Greene clocked in at 50.72 seconds to place second in his heat. He will be one of six athletes who garnered All-America honors at the NCAA Championships two weeks ago that will run in tomorrow’s semifinal round. Beauvais, who was running in the fastest heat, finished fifth in 51.63 to lock up the last qualifying spot. Two-time reigning NCAA champion Jeshua Anderson of Washington State and South Carolina’s Johnny Dutch, who finished second at this year’s NCAA meet behind Anderson, were among the five collegians Beauvais competed against.

McCadney, a senior captain and NCAA East Regional qualifier who was seeded 15th in the triple jump, placed ninth among 24 competitors with a mark of 51-feet, 4.25-inches on Thursday night. His previous standard was 51-3.25, which he recorded at the NCAA East Regional Championship in Greensboro, N.C. three weeks ago.

Junior transfer Nasim Siddeeq, the USTFCCCA and America East Conference Field Athlete of the Year indoors, finished 13th for leaping 50-9.50. The mark moved him up to second on the program’s all-time top 10 list behind McCadney.

Greene and Beauvais will run in the semifinal round of the 400-meter intermediate hurdles on Saturday, June 27 at 8:24 p.m. Eastern. The event will be broadcasted live on ESPN.
